Easy Crochet Roses: 3 ways + free patterns 🌹
A rose that never dies? what in the fairy world is that??
I’ve been making crochet roses in a few different ways lately, and I love how the same idea can change so much just depending on how you build it.
So here are 3 versions, with different difficulty levels, and all of them end up being really sweet handmade pieces. They also make such cute romantic gifts—small, simple, but very thoughtful.
🌹A Rose Bookmark🌹
This is the easiest version. It’s based on a simple repeating shape that curls up naturally into a rose. And the stem is basically a chain and a round going back in sc.
You don’t need much experience for this one, and it’s perfect if you just want something relaxing to make without thinking too much.
It works really well as a small gift for book lovers!
🌹A Crochet Rose🌹
The rose has the same base structure as the bookmark, but making one round more that will give it the shape of rounded petals and a more vibrant appearance. For the steam, instead of staying flat, it’s attached to an i-cord stem so it stands like a little flower. You can make the i-cord by hand or with an electric i-cord maker, as I did.
I love how close to a real flower this one looks, it will last “forever ” without trying too hard.
Definitely one of my favourite versions for gifting.
🌹An Icord Rose🌹
Can be done as a full size rose or as cute keychains :)
This version of the rose is made completely from i-cord, which gives it a more structured, almost sculptural look.
Instead of building the rose from flat stitches that curl up, here the entire shape is formed by twisting and shaping the i-cord itself, with wire in the inside. It takes a bit more patience and practice.
You can draw your own rose or use this helpful Flower Making Kit.
And if you don’t know how to make I-Cord by hand, here’s the machine I’ve used:
